Planning By Design embarked on a sustainability journey, recognising the urgent need to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Planning By Design’s carbon footprint is virtually zero. However, Planning by Design recognises our client’s developments, especially where construction is concerned, have a carbon footprint and a negative impact on the climate and environment locally and globally. Planning by Design wants to offset some of the impacts of our client’s developments to help fight climate change to make a healthier, greener and sustainable planet for current and future generations.
Planning By Design is committed to a more sustainable and eco-friendly approach to business and environmental conservation. This led to seeking a green partner that shared the company’s vision and values.
The web developer for Planning by Design planted a tree in honour of his work for the company, which inspired Grant Singlehurst-Ward, our Founder and Managing Director. This tree wasn’t planted with Treeapp but served as inspiration for finding a reliable company with accreditations and evidence to show that the contributed money really is spent on planting the number of trees being purchased. After many weeks of research, contacting many other carbon capture and tree planting companies and careful consideration, Planning by Design found the perfect match in Treeapp, a platform dedicated to tree planting.
Treeapps proposition was impressive with strong credibility, accreditations, great pricing, impact reports, tree planting certificates and a tree counting widget. Most of all the third-party satellite tracking software allows us to see the planting sites historically and scroll forward or backwards in time to see new growth.
The collaboration between Planning By Design and Treeapp became the catalyst for change, enabling both organisations to make a positive impact on the environment.

Treeapp provides a simple and effective way to offset carbon emissions through tree planting. Users can choose to plant trees by watching ads from sustainable brands or directly fund tree planting projects. For every tree planted, the app calculates the amount of carbon that will be offset over its lifetime. This allows users to see the direct environmental impact of their actions and the number of trees they have planted. Treeapp collaborates with verified planting partners who ensure that trees are planted in areas where they will have the most significant impact on biodiversity and local communities, including in the UK and worldwide.
Tree planting is an effective method of compensating for carbon emissions because trees absorb carbon dioxide during photosynthesis and store it in their biomass. Through this process, trees act as natural carbon sinks, helping to reduce the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. By planting trees through Treeapp, individuals and businesses can offset their carbon emissions by providing an additional means of carbon absorption and compost. The more trees planted, the greater the carbon offset and the more positive the environmental impact, including reducing air pollution. Tree planting initiatives, along with composting, are essential parts of global climate action and contribute to the overall goal of mitigating the effects of climate change.
Treeapp follows a well-structured process to ensure that tree-planting projects are carried out efficiently and effectively. The process begins with careful planning, including site selection and species selection based on local ecological conditions and potential drought conditions. This ensures that trees are planted in areas where they will thrive and have the most significant impact. After planning, the actual planting takes place, with trained professionals and local communities working together to plant and care for the trees. Regular monitoring and maintenance ensure the long-term survival and growth of the trees, including adding a layer of bark mulch to help retain moisture and prevent weeds. Throughout the process, Treeapp maintains transparency by providing updates and reports on the progress of tree-planting projects. This helps users track their individual and collective impact on carbon offsetting and tree planting.
Planning By Design’s partnership with Treeapp has already achieved measurable impacts in carbon offsetting and through planting trees.
Planning by Design plant 10 trees for every customer that purchases our services including architectural design and planning permission. Planning By Design covers the cost using profits, sparing clients from paying.
At the current moment, Planning by Design has already planted 7935 trees. Being a fast-growing company, this indicates that Planning by Design is increasing its tree-planting efforts each month. It is projected to reach a significant goal of planting 10,000 trees within the next 2 months.
While our current tree planting efforts are just a small contribution compared to the vast number of trees that need to be planted, Planning by Design takes pride in our contributions thus far. We aim to increase our efforts as our company grows, we hope to plant 1,000,000+ trees in the future.
Since Planning By Design and Treeapp formed a partnership, 7935 trees have been planted, effectively capturing 864.91 tonnes of carbon dioxide. These trees serve as natural carbon sinks, taking in carbon dioxide from the air and retaining it within their biomass. By means of photosynthesis, trees transform carbon dioxide into oxygen, playing a crucial role in mitigating climate change. By engaging in tree planting via Treeapp, both individuals and companies play a direct role in offsetting carbon emissions and promoting the preservation of worldwide biodiversity. The trees planted as part of this collaboration have a tangible impact on carbon sequestration, fostering a more environmentally friendly and sustainable world.
Tree planting projects not only have a positive impact on the environment but also create work opportunities for local communities. By collaborating with verified planting partners, Treeapp ensures that tree-planting projects provide employment and income for local communities.
