Retrospective Change of Use from a Residential Dwelling (C3) to a Children’s Residential Home(C2)

The client contacted planning by design regarding a retrospective change of use from a residential dwelling (C3) to a children's residential home (C2) after a failed DIY planning application due to a lack of planning drawings.

Following a planning appraisal with one of our chartered town planners it was determined that it was feasible to secure retrospective planning permission. One of our chartered architects prepared the required architect drawings, which the client approved. Following approval of the design, one of our chartered town planners prepared a planning, design and access statement, to justify why the planning authority should grant retrospective planning permission for the change of use. With the clients approval a retrospective planning application was submitted with the architect drawings and a planning, design and access statement.

Retrospective planning permission has now been approved for the change of use from a residential dwelling (C3) to a children's residential home(C2). This means the client will not need to restore the property its original use and is no longer at risk of enforcement action.
