The client contacted Planning By Design regarding retrospective planning permission for the conversion of the integrated garage into an additional living space, and the addition of brickwork, a window and door in the place of the pre-existing garage door at the front of the dwelling. The conversion has been done already and client seeks to regularise it.
Following a planning appraisal with one of our chartered town planners it was determined that the project is feasible. As works were already complete it would require retrospective planning permission.
One of our chartered architects prepared the required architect drawings, which the client approved. Following approval of the design, one of our chartered town planners prepared a Planning Design and Access Statement, to justify why the planning authority should grant retrospective planning permission.
With the clients approval a retrospective planning application was submitted with the architect drawings and Planning Design and Access Statement.
Retrospective planning permission has now been approved for the garage conversion to a habitable room. This means the client will not need to restore the garage its original state or use and is no longer at risk of enforcement action.
