Change of Use From a Shop to a Dessert Takeaway – Retrospective

The client contacted Planning By Design regarding retrospective change of use to shop and takeaway (dessert shop – Class E and Sui Generis) with associated internal and external alterations, including to shop front, and advertisement signage. The property is currently listed as a shop, but the client has already opened it as a takeaway (dessert shop).

Following a planning appraisal with one of our chartered town planners, it was determined that retrospective planning permission and Advertising Consent are required.

One of our chartered architects prepared the required architect drawings, which the client approved. Following the approved architectural design, one of our chartered town planners prepared the required Planning Statement, to justify why the council should approve retrospective planning permission.

Retrospective Planning Permission has now been approved for the change of use of the ground floor premises from a shop (Class E) to a flexible shop and dessert takeaway (Class E and Sui
Generis) and Advertising Consent granted. Thankfully, this means the client will now not need to restore the property to its original state and is protected from enforcement action indefinitely.
