Planning By Design & Treeapp: A Tree Planting Day to Remember at Hideaway Wood Farm

Sustainability has always been at the heart of Planning By Design, not as a buzzword but as a responsibility. For every client, Planning By Design plants 10 trees, contributing to a meaningful and long-term environmental impact. Since partnering with Treeapp in April 2023, Planning By Design has funded the planting of over 21,300 trees on behalf of our clients.

At the end of November, our team embraced that commitment in the most hands-on way possible by joining Treeapp for a memorable Tree Planting Day at Hideaway Wood Farm near Northampton. This event took that partnership from theory to reality, with boots on the ground, spades in hand, and a brilliant community atmosphere.

Planting Trees – One Sapling at a Time

The day began with a warm welcome from Treeapp’s team, who guided us through the farm’s reforestation goals and the importance of nurturing native woodland. Together with volunteers and local partners, we planted young trees, each chosen to restore biodiversity and strengthen the long-term ecological health of the area.

There’s something grounding about planting a tree: you know it will stand long after the moment has passed, growing quietly into something that truly matters. For our team, seeing the impact of our sustainability efforts firsthand was incredibly rewarding.

A Mindful Walk with the Alpacas

One of the highlights of the day?


A walk around the site with Hideaway Wood Farm’s alpacas. These gentle, curious animals kept us company throughout the event — and proved to be surprisingly calming companions. That calmness became the centrepiece of the day during a guided mindfulness session with alpacas and practitioner Carly Chandler-Morris. Surrounded by nature, breathing in the fresh woodland air, it was a moment that perfectly captured the spirit of the event: slowing down, reconnecting, and appreciating the natural world we’re helping to regenerate.

Tea, Fire, and Conversations That Matter

As the planting wrapped up, everyone gathered around a roaring fire, hands warmed by countless cups of tea and plates filled with hearty plant-based food.

 Conversations flowed about sustainability, community, planning, nature, and the small steps that add up to long-term impact. It was a simple, genuine, memorable moment that brought the whole day full circle.
