Retrospective Change of Use of a Retail Unit (use class E) to a Hot Food Takeaway

The client contacted Planning By Design regarding a retrospective change of use of a ground floor retail unit (use class E) to a hot food takeaway (Under use class Sui Generis) for the operation of Mexican takeaway. The site is located on the ground floor of triple storey building, and whilst it is operational as takeaway, selling Mexican food, such as tacos and burritos, this current use Class is E for retail and thus should be changed retrospectively to class Sui generis to be able to sell hot food under planning policy.

Following a planning appraisal with one of our chartered town planners it was determined that the project is feasible and would require retrospective planning permission for a change of use.

One of our chartered architects prepared the required architect drawings, which the client approved. Following approval of the design, one of our chartered town planners prepared a Planning, Design and Access Statement, to justify why the planning authority should grant retrospective planning permission.

With the clients approval a retrospective planning application was submitted with the architect drawings and Planning, Design and Access Statement.

Retrospective planning permission has now been approved for change of use of a ground floor retail unit (use class E) to a hot food takeaway (Under use class Sui Generis) for the operation of Mexican takeaway.
