Retention of Shepherd’s Hut-Retrospective

The client contacted Planning By Design after receiving an enforcement notice for a shepherd's hut that was built, after incorrectly assuming that it was permitted development. Shepherd's hut is situated on a pre-existing hard standing at the back of the side garden of the property. The shepherd's hut is intended for occasional personal use by family, with no intention of being used as a separate living accommodation.

Following a planning appraisal with one of our chartered town planners it was determined that the project is feasible and would require retrospective planning permission.

One of our chartered architects prepared the required architect drawings, which the client approved. Following approval of the design, one of our chartered town planners prepared a comprehensive design, access and heritage statement, to justify why the planning authority should approve the application. With the clients approval the planning application was been submitted with the drawings and design, access and heritage statement.

Retrospective planning permission has now been approved for shepherd's hut in the side garden for personal use. This means the client is no longer at risk of enforcement action.
