Our client approached Planning By Design to create a private riding arena within an existing equestrian grazing paddock. The proposal comprised a 40m ร 20m arena with low-level timber fencing, providing a dedicated space for exercising horses alongside the existing stables.
Following a feasibility assessment, our team prepared the architectural drawings and planning statement to support a full planning application. The submission addressed Green Belt policy, landscape character, neighbouring amenity, access and drainage, explaining how the proposal would preserve openness and complement the established equestrian use.
The scheme retained existing trees and hedgerows, with biodiversity enhancements including native tree planting and grassland improvements. No external lighting was proposed, helping to protect the rural setting and neighbouring amenity.
The application was approved. The permission allows the arena to be used for private equestrian activities, with commercial use excluded.
