Conversion of a Shipping Container Into a Residential Annex and the Construction of Decking-Retrospective

The client contacted Planning By Design regarding retrospective planning permission for the conversion of a shipping container into a residential annex and the construction of decking. Fortunately, they had not yet received an enforcement notice but were not aware they were in breach of planning and at risk of enforcement action.

Following a planning appraisal with one of our chartered town planners, it was determined that the project was feasible and would require retrospective planning permission via a full planning application.

One of our chartered architects prepared the architect drawings, which the client approved. Following approval of the architectural design, one of our chartered town planners prepared the required Planning, Design and Access Statement to justify why the council should approve the application. With the client's approval, the retrospective planning application was submitted with the architect's drawings and Planning, Design and Access Statement.

The retrospective planning application has now been approved, which means the client now is protected from retrospective planning issues indefinitely.
