5 Solar Sail Shades – Retrospective

Following a complaint from a neighbour the client contacted Planning By Design to find out whether retrospective planning permission was required for 5 solar sail shades that were already installed. Following a planning appraisal with one of our chartered town planners, it was determined that retrospective planning permission was required and likely to be feasible. Although planning approval can never be guaranteed and until retrospective planning permission is approved the client was at risk of enforcement action. One of our chartered architects prepared the required architect drawings, which the client approved. Following the approved architectural design, one of our chartered town planners prepared the required design and access statement, to justify why the council should approve planning permission retrospectively. Retrospective planning permission has now been approved for the clients 5 solar sail shades. Thankfully this means the client will now not need to take the solar sails down and is protected from retrospective planning issues and enforcement action indefinitely.
